E-learning for computational design
In this learning section you will find video tutorials focusing on design, interior architecture and architecture. The teaching principle in my classes is flipteaching. “ Flip teaching (or flipped classroom) is a form of blended learning in which students learn new content online by watching video lectures, usually at home, and what used to be homework (assigned problems) is now done in class with teacher offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing.” Videos in the ‘learning section’ are sorted by topic and in a more formal way to give you a basic understanding of software tools. In the section ‘design strategies’ videos are structured from a design point of view and are already based on a basic software knowledge.
Digital design in the field of design, interior architecture and architecture does not depend on one specific software. The same kind of result can be achieved in a number of ways and with different kind of software. This platform uses mainly the software 3ds max and Para3D. 3ds max is a 3d-modelling, animation and visualization program already based on parametric. It is very good for advanced and fast conceptual design at every scale. You can also use it for realisation projects in the field of interior design, furniture design and for digital production. It is less suitable for realisation projects on a bigger architectural scale.
Modelling with 3ds max
Every 3d design is based on points, lines and surfaces. Once you understand the basics of 3d modeling you can work on your individual design strategy to make your ideas real.
Visualisation with 3ds max
To creat photorealistic visualisations is easy. Difficult is to find a way of abstraction and the right answer for your design.
Parametric design with para 3D
Para3D is a new plug-in for 3ds max enabling parametric design. It is easy to use because you don’t need any further programming software.
It is important to have some knowledge of picture editing and layout to be able to communicate your design properly. This part will give you a brief introduction.
